The Animal Behaviour Centre – who are we?

Whatever your needs The Animal Behaviour Centre can provide you with the advice and training you need to ensure your pet is a happy family member, whether this is behavioural, training or welfare advice. As well as offering Kennel Club Good Citizen training classes we offer many fun classes so why not try agility, scenting or fly ball with your  dog, these can provide a great way to keep  fit whilst having fun with your dog. You can also learn how to keep your dog safe and to apply first aid on our canine first aid classes.

Our goal is to deliver good quality dog training and advice to dog owners and to ensure owners can easily address more complex behavioural issues with qualified behaviourists.

As pet owners ourselves we are always reviewing how we can provide the most up to date welfare and training methods. We strongly believe dog training should be achieved through guided reward-based learning that works with your pet and not by doing things to them. Communicating with your pet allows them to become rounded individuals, so they can be relaxed and confident in different sitautions. In essence your dog should be confident that in times of stress they can turn to you in the knowledge that you will keep them safe.

We tailor our classes to the requirements of individual owners and their pets . We offer group classes as well as family, corporate or private 1 to 1 classes which can be arranged on request. The classes are fair, ethical and compassionate and within industry guidelines such as The KCAI Code of practice, The Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards and the National Occupational Standards.

We also work with many corporate groups such as veterinary practices, the NHS, educational bodies, schools, welfare groups, dog’s homes, local councils, The Kennel Club and many charities and are proud to offer the highest quality service to all our customers.

Our role at The Animal Behaviour Centre is not only to provide knowledge to dog owners but also to extend training to others within the industry. We are regularly asked to provide staff training for other professional bodies.

Our fitness centre can help your dog to lose those extra pounds and maybe have a Reiki or Aromatherapy session!

If you would like your dog to visit the sick or elderly why not qualify them as a therapy dog (PAT Dog). Or maybe you would like your pet to assist you with everyday taks such as opening or closing doors, passing items to you, emptying the washing machine or simply untying your shoe laces then our Assistance Dog Classes are for you.

Our classes are relaxed and good humoured. We train indoors – at The Animal Behaviour Centre here in Lymm which gives us a calm environment in which to train our dogs – and outside on the paddock, weather permitting. We would love to meet you, and to help you build a rewarding relationship with your dog. We like to involve all members of the family and so feel free to bring children along . We can also assist your child with educational schemes such as The Duke of Edinburgh or work experience.
